Clutch slave cylinder

I replaced the master and slave cylinder today. Bought the 2 piece unit from Dodge that has the quick connect down near the slave cylinder. I thought all one had to do was remove the plastic caps that protected both ends and insert them into each other. However it will not snap together. On the line coming from the reservoir there is a plastic ring around the male end, i've tried snapping with it on ther and off, no luck. Need direction so I can get truck back on road.

Thanks,

Steve
