Check Gauges Indicator

Does anyone have an idea why this would flash on for about 1 second and go back off, just every blue moon? I hook my code reader up to the truck and all is well according to it. Nothing seems wrong other that the truck wasn't up in temperature yet. Just curious.....

with the key off, hold down the odometer reset button, then turn the key on. the odo will flash codes for the dash, just like the procedure for the drivetrain. then see if any codes are stored. the code reader (obd2) that hooks in under the dash only reads drivetrain codes.

That was cool. I didn't have any idea it would do that. Sorry to sound like a goober, but I am learning more about these trucks every day. The display showed 00 00, I guess that means no problems. I appreciate the information.

First off fill in your signature so we know more about your truck.

My '03 just flashed my check gauges light at me too. I think my old one did also. Just got the new one about 2 weeks ago.

Not to sound ignorant or anything, but where do you go to create the "signature"?

My check engine light comes on every now and again but only for a second just like yours. And I don't have any codes either. It did come on once and stayed on but that was a loose fuel cap a couple miles after I filled up. I stopped and tightened cap and it went out. I just wonder if it my be a fuel vent/fuel slosh thing. I'll try to pay more attention if it happens more with a full tank or empty. But I know it blinks sometimes when I don't notice it as my arm usually blocks my view as I am driving. If you find out more please let us all know......

mine does it too, every once in a while, like some times it will do it a couple of times in the hr drive i have for work, and then might not do it again for a couple of days. i keep checking the gauges, and there still there. i just ignor it, as i don't seem to have any problems that i can see.
