Thanks for the reply. I would have guessed a little forward on the drivers side. This position looks as though it would miss the filter a little better.

Any type of sealant needed between the nylon washer and pan?

No sealant needed...
Once you remove the pan, you`ll see a clean/clear location to mount it.
Had mine on now for a year or so....no leaks at all.

Passenger side of pan 2/3 to 3/4 back on the side of the pan is the best place to install drain plug.

Use high temp sealant on both sides of plug, wipe off excess when tight, and let it set up before installing pan for best results.

No need for sealer. BUT..... replace the nylon washer with a copper one and tighten like your serious. The nylon slips and slides and crushes easily and can lead to adventures later when removing and installing the 1/8" plug....

OK, maybe a stupid question ... install the washer on inside or outside the pan?

Oh, but the need for selaer is obvious by your own description. With a nylon washer the selant will stop all that sliding and moving and it works just as well with copper.

That way, you don't need all this serious cranking and tightening. You do that too much and you WILL strip the threads on the drain. Nothing ever pulls down exactly right and the heat cycles will almost always shift things. The sealer takes care of that.

Weld it on and solve all your problems.

Yup, me too. There aren't really enough threads on the inside to permit use of a washer. Just enough threads for the nut.

I also used a copper washer and hi-temp sealant.

Thumbs up

Yes I have to say just weld a nice thin axle type nut on the outside of a hole you drilled in the pan and a nice short bolt with a copper washer and your set.
