When I get on the throttle hard I am getting an air sound from under the hood. When it does this my power levels off, I guess it is not building boost at that point. I fixed a boost leak recently by tightening up the clamps to the intercooler - could it be a different boost leak or is that just my wastegate opening?

 

You guess pretty good. Check for split air ducts and/or split intercooler.

 

Pretty easy to test turbo all the way through intake manifold for boost leaks with a cheap homemade boost tester, works well, i just found a leak on mine at intake manifold plate. Do a search and some people have pics of what i'm talking about, basically a 4in to 3in rubber coupler w/ hose clamps to go over turbo w/ 3in pvc cap in other end that is threaded for a shrader valve. charge system to 20 psi and listen for a leak.
