Are you vibe'n??? I'm vibe'n Dealer recognized the vibe - didn't want to do anything about it. I'll take one of those new Al shafts please... My vibe is like a light switch, 68+ = vibe, 67- = no vibe.

Can't wait, already had 2 fillings fall out. Maybe Harley should have picked the CTD to put their name on, at least they have 1 thing in common...

I just had my truck in for the reflash and the high idle enable today. The service mgr told me that DC was finally acknowledging that there was a problem with the vibration and the fix will be out by the first of the year. Last week we tried the rear driveshaft replacement, it didn't help but its not the aluminum one either. Hopefully that will be the fix we need.......

SuperGewl, The standard output Cummins with 47RE came with a 10.5" AAM in the rear in the first half of '03.
My local service writer is going to call me every couple of weeks until he hears something. He's aware of my truck's vibration since day one. Hopefully he'll be able to get me on top of the list for the aluminum drive shaft. That is if I haven't traded for an F-250 silky smooth V-10 by then.
This thread should be pinned to the top. It holds the most promise for a fix yet...

E-Mail from DC Engineer

( No word yet. It is still being certified by the government from what they tell me. I would expect by the end of Dec? I have your email and I will let you know ASAP. )

An e-mail from the DC engineer. I e-mail him about once a week. This squeeky wheel is gonna get greased.

I have 5000 miles and no vibe on my dually YET , should I be expecting this to surface or is it primarily a problem on the 3/4 tons ??

Thanks for the update msatow, Kinda like waiting for Christmas!
MM, if you haven't felt it in 5k miles, you're probably good to go. Duallies and singles do it alike. I'll never buy another vehicle without giving it a 70mph test drive.

I feel for you guys ,that has got to be annoying as hell !!! I'm confident DC will take care of it ,they are gaining record market share thanks to Ford and their "new " diesel . Chevy's are overpriced and outdated to say the least . Besides they look pretty wimpy in my book !!!

I heard it was only the SWB trucks with 1 piece drive shafts..

Just picked mine up today after 11 days waiting to have the rear balanced and the front replaced. Will know tomorrow if the prob is gone...

Mine's a two piece drive shaft in a 2X4 QC LB vibrator. Oddly, I heard from somewhere that a one piece driveshaft would cure it.
I'm anxious to read about yours tomorrow...

Mine comes on at 65mph with my 4.10 ratio. That puts the driveshaft rpm at 2900-3000 for both mine and yours. I can run 63mph and avoid it and it smooths out somewhat at 70mph. I can put mine on jack stands and it does it at the same speeds. I can also put the tranny in neutral and coast down through the vibration speed on the road and it's there. That eliminates tires and engine vibes.
I stopped in our local dealership today to ask some questions. The service writer says mine is the only one he's had a complaint about. I have to believe him as he's been straight with me before with four previous trucks, our Durango, a Stratus and Neon. He printed up some papers with my phone number on them to give to the field engineer. So now I wait. I've waited quietly for almost two years.

Well mine never had it in the begining either. But now at 47,000 I do have it. Not really sure when it started but it was around 15,000-20,000 I think.

I wonder if you don't have "the vibe" but maybe have some u-joint wear causing a similar vibe? That or maybe your shaft threw a weight??
