Truck up on jack-stands, Had a coworker run the truck up to 65mph where I started to feel the slight vibration. Listened to rear axle bearings and diff bearings then same on the front then the tranny then transfer case. Listened with my scope, only place there was any noise was in the transfer case. Pulled my front driveshaft and the vibration reduced bu 80%. I also had the front shaft modified and a new tube and yoke installed.

Bought an overhaul kit online for $400.00 shipped. The kit includes all bearings, seals, gaskets, Morse chain and sprockets. Now all I have to do is put it in.

Has anyone posted a complaint to the NHTSB? My transfer case exploded!!! I had some cheap tires on the truck when I bought it used in 2012 with 117000 miles on it. It now has 137000 and is sitting in the driveway, BROKEN. I have replaced u-joints before. The vibration has come and gone over time. I have also replaced the tires with BF Goodrich's. It has finally presented itself that it was bad.

Has anyone tried changing/reducing caster?

After lifting my truck I didn't like the road feel of the truck so I had them increase caster, it caused this exact complaint.

Hello, I just saw this thread after a friend of mine that has an 05 2500 4x4 4 door short bed auto truck was telling me about a vibration he has starting around 60 to 70 mph. Has anyone figured out the cause of this yet? He has already replaced all the u-joints, bought new wheels and tires, and had the driveshaft balanced. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

About the only thing I have not done is replace the entire driveshaft. My next move is to have the harmonic balancer donut looking thing taken off the driveshaft, and have it rebalanced again. I would buy a new driveshaft if I knew for sure that would work.

I think we will find a way to pull the rear driveshaft and see if the vibration goes away. There is a local shop here telling him he needs to rebuild the rear end ...I just don't think that's the issue. He has a short bed quad cab, so it's a one piece driveshaft. Thanks for your response evan.

Got the driveshaft out now I will check the splines to see if there are any cracks.

I am taking in back to certified power in Des Moines Iowa again to have them take that balancer off the end, and rebalance the driveshaft. I also will have them look for any run out.

First test seems like the problem is gone. I will put more miles on it this week, and post if I have anymore issues.
