4 wheel drive shifter
I have an 07 5.9 and over the summer the manual shifter for 4 wheel drive no longer feels connected to anything. I was towing my brother in laws wakeboard boat and once at the lake i decided to put into 4 wheel drive while on a hill, decided that i didn't quite need it yet and put back in 2wd. Once i got back home i realized that shifter not feeling connected anymore, didnt hear any unusual noises during that exchanged. Any thoughts on what went wrong? Thanks.

Crawl under the truck and check to see if the rod has come off. There are some rubber grommets that hold the linkage together. They will age and the rod can come off. Hopefully it's still there if only one end came off. I read about this long ago and replaced the grommets on mine as a precaution. I also added a loose cable to the rod in case it every did come off it would still be dangling instead of on the roadside.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
How about your local scrap yard?
That rod is probably Dodge specific, so that means a trip to the overpriced Dodge st ... dealer.
