3500 dually conversion
3500 dually conversion
Hey there fellas,
I know i am a first gen guy and all but i got a question for a friend with a 05 3500.
He bought the truck with a conversion to make it a dually. It has the alcoa 19.5s on it.
He is having some serious driveline vibrations and cant find the source. He basically rebuilt the whole front end and it still does it.
He got the drive shaft rebalanced and adjusted for the correct angle as well. Tires were re balanced and front end was aligned.
He thinks it might be a bent rear axle.
Also thought since it was a conversion that the rear axles might be a different size even with the adapters.
He asked me to ask on here he is at a loss.
Any help would be so greatly appreciated thanks so much guys!!!

Hey thanks so much for the replies guys. He has had the wheels rebalanced twice but i will ask him if he knows about how true they are. The vibration is very little amount around 50 or so but when you hit 65 70 it get horrific like the doors separate from the door jams.
He wants to go over it with a fine tooth comb he just hasnt had the time he works 2 jobs and runs a small farm.
How would you check for trueness on a wheel. He was thinking of jacking it up and just spinning it slowly to see if its lopsided.
Thanks for the help again guys.

That is one way to check it, but put something againt the wheel to look at. Also look across the tread to see if it is out of round. Is there heel-toe wear on the tread? Pull the lug nuts loose and re-tighten, maybe one of the wheels didn't set right on hub.

Hey guys,
Thanks so much. I found out yesterday he had sometime to check on some things and found out there are spacers on the truck plus the adapters. So he thinks thats where the vibration is coming from.
I do have some more questions just havent had time to post.
Been to busy thanks so much for the replies already they have helped.
