2004.5 fuel pressue gauge

Hello,
I was wondering if i need to install a fuel pressure gauge on my 04.5'? What would be the advantages of having one? I know the 2nd gen 24v's had lift pump problems, Do the new common rails have the same problem? Thanks

My 04.5 lift pump went out at 52k. I was planning on putting in a FP guage but hadn't done it when the LP went. Some say you may not see a drop in pressure they just go? others say they saw low pressure right away. My Lp was replaced under warranty with the in tank "upgrade"? I hope it holds up better? I'm thinking about adding an in line pump to help it out. I installed my FP guage and the in tank holds 9-10 psi at idle and 7-8 psi wide open but I haven't towed with the new pump yet?

Is it true that anything above 5 psi is ok? My truck is basically stock.

I just got my truck back from the dealer Tuesday afternoon. Mine went out Monday morning with only 50K on it.

I called Larry (top) yesterday and my fuel pressure gauce its on its way. Also I'm still going to go with a Walbro pump, IMO its the best out there and there are very few problems if any once installe on out trucks.

This is a good, helpful thread if you have not already seen it.

I have a FP gauge and when my LP went south @ 30K there really was no way to know it was going to happen from looking at the FP gauge. IMO, a FP gauge is good to have for entertainment purposes, but there is no gaurantee that it will give you any advance warning of a sick LP.
