06 Mega Cab Turbo Question

Alright so i had a AFE stage 2 air intake on my 05 dodge and just bought a new 06 mega cab today. I put the AFE intake on it and i also removed the silenter ring from the turbo also. the turbo is really loud I LOVE THIS but my question is when let off of the pedel as the turbo is spooling down it sounds really weird like a suckin noise or something. IS THIS NORMAL anyone use have this. just making sure it wont hurt my truck. should i put silent ring back in let me know Thanks

What you're experiencing is "turbo bark"...BAD BAD When you are in high boost, you should refrain from just quickly letting off the skinny pedal...let her down slower. Turbo bark = failed turbo

what he said . building more boost than the engine can consume drives the boost backward into the turbo trying to reverse its direction.

Yes! Stop doing whatever you're doing to cause it!!

As was said already, don't just pull up quickly on the go-pedal. Let off slowly and your problem will disappear. Mine did it the first week I owned it and I haven't heard it since...

I don't think it's turbo bark you have. I get the same noise sometimes. I think what it is, is the air violently swirling around in the tube. The tube is plastic so, you get a hallow, growling effect on the pedal and then when you let off. The AFE filter it so large and lets so much air through it going to make some noise!

Turbo bark is very distinctive and very rude sounding.... you'll know if you do it.
One time probably wouldn't hurt too much so you should try it to see what it really sounds like. Stomp on it, get you boost up and then let off really quick....
As it was said though..... not something you want to do a lot.

Is it even possible to "bark" the turbo on a new stock truck by letting up on the throttle like that?

When you let off fast there is excess boost that can't go into the engine, so it must travel backward through the turbo and be released through the air filter. With a giant AFE Stage II you can hear this happen and with a stock box you can't. I'm pretty sure that's all he's hearing.

Me tooo! I just figured it was air swirling around in that huge arsss filter and pipe.. I didn't think it was turbo bark.. I don't have any chips or anything.. It never did it in my 05? Even barely on the go pedal it will do it.. I will experiment a little today..
