06 engine replacement question
06 engine replacement question
Ive got a 06 that just bit the dust. I found a 5000 mi. engine that has been in a fire and the ecm is gone. The only thing wrong with the long block is that the valve cover has been slightly melted. Can I use my ecm with this engine or do I need the one from that truck?

Fires are always bad for metallic parts, as well as non-metallic parts of engines and veichles. The intense heat in places it's not supposed to be could have created stress concentations or risers on the block and other componets, weakening them. Best to have it magnafluxed to check for microscopic cracking. Had you been running your truck stock you may have stood a chance for a goodwill replacement from D-C since it was only a year old.
Well it wasn't in stock not that they said one thing about having a tuner in it, to be honest I really dont know if the saw I had one in it, all they did was bolt a new balancer on it since it was broken and figured out that would not do it so they charged me 750.00 and my motor is still blown. They did quote me 13,000 for a new motor though.
