Question Engine Replacement cost?

Just curious what a replacement engine would cost if I did blow one up?
I am just referring to the main engine assembly (block, head, crank, rods, pistons.), no exhaust, turbo, fuel injection, etc.

I thought the Cummins dealer mentioned the replacement cost was only around $3500? Does that sound right? If it is, it may make an interesting starting point for a fully modified engine

That was probably just for a bare block

the ford cummins people have already sold out when i called them bout 2 months ago southern plains in houston could not get one they said but they could rebuild for around 16000.00 and dodge said they could get a rebuilt long block installed around 14000.00 so we ended up having our mechanic do it for 6500.00 with a 1 year unlimited mileage warr.
