04 burning oil or something

I posted this past spring about having problems with my truck and that ended with me having my engine rebuilt. After the rebuild I was told it would burn a little oil and have a little white smoke on start up till the rings and such seat. Well it’s been 5000 miles I haven’t been able to pull anything really big or heavy because I just haven’t had the need to yet. And the truck does not smoke really at all but I still have had the oil level drop over about every week or so and have had to add oil about every 2 weeks but not a lot of oil, so after that long story the question is should I take the truck back to the people who rebuilt the engine or just wait a little longer and see what happens?

How much oil do you add every two weeks? Over how many miles? I go 10k miles between oil changes and the oil level doesn't drop on the stick. Is it leaking oil somewhere?

I dunno what happened the first time, nor do I know who rebuilt it (under warranty through Dodge?). Did you buy the truck new? Used? How many miles on it?

Without knowing any facts, my gut instinct says that I should be documenting things, otherwise you'll get the typical, "ah, thats normal, they all do that...." and pat you on the butt on the way out the door.

Good luck.

It shouldn't be using any oil if it has a fresh rebuild with 5000 miles on it. Nor should it be making white smoke on start up. Mine has over a hundred thousand and I've never ween the level drop on the stick. I would say something isn't right.

I add about quart or less i have had to add a little more then that when it droped below the add mark on the stick.

its over about 5000 miles from about earily Aug till now. and if it leaking i cant find it any where,

the engine is not under warranty with dodge because they told me I put gas in my truck and that made the ONE cyclinder become so messed that i had to have it sleved. I also had to replace all the injectors becasue they were damaged when the dealer tossed them in a box and it was cheaper to buy new, and have the head rebuilt.

I did buy it used with just about 30,000 on it. its up to just over 80,000 had the engine rebuilt around 74ish.

the truck is running fine and doesn't seem to have any problems, I have towed but again nothing really big and its had no problems.

thanks for any help you can give me.

So how many miles per quart of oil is it burning? Is it 200 miles/quart? 800 miles/quart? 1500 miles/quart?

it was changed right around the 5000 mile mark, using a new filter and using shell 15 w 40. I will have to check the miles per quart i will say after the oil change it is doing the smoking and such a lot less.
