'03 SO Dyno baseline

Decided to baseline my truck today on a local dynojet. Operator had trouble getting a timing signal but managed to get it going after an hour of fiddling around. Best pull netted 200.3hp\369.4 tq on a stock SO with 47RE. Now that we've got that established...bombs away!!!

Curious - do these numbers look in line for a stock SO with auto?

That sounds about right. Both the SO and HO loose anywhere from 50 to 55 HP between the engine and rear wheels. On the SO, that should put you in the 195 to 200 RWPH range. Now run along and be a good little bomber!

Update - since performing the base line analysis (original #'s at beginning of thread), the following performance modifications were made:

- Banks Six-Gun
- Banks Speed-Loader
- Banks Monster Exhaust

Same dyno, same dyno operator, same ambient air temp, same warm up cycle.

Results:
Max HP - 295.8
Max TQ - 610.9

Net "Banks" difference:
HP - 95.5
TQ - 241.5

Truck - 2003 CTD SO 47RE. Note - aFe ProGuard w/Torque Tube installed for baseline and Banks modified test.

Next test will include Big Head Actuator. Received too late for today's testing.

What setting did you have the Six Gun at for the testing?

My '03 SO baselined at 195/335. With the Diesel Dynamics (Edge) box it makes 270/470. All else stock, save for gauges that show the motor to still be quite safe with EGT's.

Chrysler should recall all SO's and at least install an Edge box. The detuning on this moter is a joke!

No kidding!

Have you ever seen high EGT's with that setup? You're up to the level of a healthy stock HO now, and they don't come with guages.

I do know how to spell "motor," but was not allowed to edit my post. While I'm talking, I'll add that a level 0-60 run stock took over 11 seconds. With the box, it's close to eight seconds flat.

Considering I run a 47RE, I don't make a habit of this; when I need to hammer the motor, I don't generally do so from a dead stop.

Bulabula,

The highest EGT I have seen was when I accelerated out onto a highway, steep uphill, 4000# camper on, full throttle to 60 mph. I briefly hit 1200 degrees. Running over Stevens Pass in a less abusive fashion it usually maxes at somewhere over 1000.

My Dyno guy told me it's safe at 1200 or less -- but sustained running at 1300 would buy me a new motor within a few thousand miles.

I have no trouble sustaining 1100 or less at good highway speeds. Very glad I bought those gauges!

The box came jumpered at highest setting; level 6 I think. Although Edge makes the DPMO3 Diesel Dynamics box, the jumper settings may be slightly different than the stock Edge.

My dyno guy (Lenny at Dyno-Mite Diesel, Monroe, WA) dynoed all settings; he told me that some of the boxes work better with different settings. Apparently mine was OK.

He also told me that an HO with the box dynoed at 320/560.
