03 Dodge-Another bad fan clutch

Ok, I am now concerned about the electric viscous fan clutch that came on the 2003 Dodges. I am now going on to my 3rd replacement. The OEM fan cluthc made it 67,000 miles, 2nd fan clutch has made it 89,000 which I am going on to my third. It should be in tomorrow. Has any one else had the same problem and if so what was your solution? I am open to any and all suggestions!

Well Newton, you stole my thunder, but I thought these questions might help you also, so please forgive me as I'm not trying to do a thread hijack. I too am the proud owner of a 2003 that thinks fan clutches are cheap. One @ 56g's and now one @ 115g's, both mopars for the '03. I have noticed a Mopar part# change between '03 and '04. But a Dorman oem part# covers both years. Question, will the mopar 04 fan clutch work on a 03 ? The Dorman has a limited lifetime warranty (I laughed too) the mopar, 1yr, 12g's. You guys have any opinion on this ???

I have an 04 and the fan went out at or around 60,000 mi. It was not covered under warrenty and not cheap. So if this is an ongoing problem I too would like to have a different solution.

Diablo, you will hear it. When you stand in front of the truck you hear a metalic rattling sound right in the center of the radiator. When if freezes up it will tear the power cord to the hub. Hopefully no further damage. My first failure tore the power cord and the hub was literally hanging on. My second clutch I heard the metalic rattling and remove it promptly.

I'm trying to find the source of a noise that just started on my '05....sounds like it is coming from the rear of the radiator...sounds like loud tappet noise on a combustion engine...increases with RPM's....is this the fan clutch ? Approximate cost to replace ?

TIA

I've been running with a dead one for about 80,000 miles. The only thing it seems to affect is A/C at idle. It's never overheated or anything.

Check your fault codes you will get one. You should also notice an increase in engine temp during the summer and the fan will run wide open more at idle when running the AC or DEF.

SUPERGEWL are you saying that the fan running alot is a sign that fan is bad? My fan has been running alot and kicks on at 200* without ac or defrost on. and runs all the time under 48 mph when ac or defrost is on.
