Wow... I still can't get over the $109 fuel filter change. Even buying a mopar filter from the dealer just cost about $40. It seriously takes no more that five minutes to do.... Be interesting to hear why they want so much for that.

I'm really debating on starting to do my own oil changes. The Dodge dealership charges $65 and they're slower than all get out. I'm pretty confident I can do it myself. We may see next round!

They probably charged a full 1 hour of labor..

$65-90 bucks an hour is about the going rate.

Thanks everyone. I do have this weekend free so I think I will be doing this myself. Still dont really understand the tran band adjust but hopefully it clicks when I read more about it. I guess the other stuff is fairly straight forward. Might take some of the kind offers up to help assist me with this my first time as I do tow at max ratings frequently and cant throw $500 to $1000 every 15K to 30K away. I am putting about 25K a year on it as it is also a daily driver.

It seems there is some debate if the trans band adjust needs to be done. Do I need to do it or not ???

Lots of us read forums.Lots of us are tinkers and do it yourselfers etc.Lots of folks arent. Some vehicles get no maintance and others bring them in like clock work and do the recomended maintances.Have had days where the shop did a dozen or more a day of 15/30/60k services.I have had many many customers that would not even think of getting anything done but through the dealer service dept and do it themselves.Yea right. The last dealer I was at we had great prices and OLFs,rotate and bal.,alignments, brakes etc.Usually better then the quickie shops and the nearby independents.WE priced shopped them and had to keep fair prices to get the maintance business.I see prices of maintance at some dealers and its like OUTA SITE.Someone is not doing their compeitive/maintance pricing to retain customers. The Caddy/Isuzu/Mazda store my wife works at labor for a oil, lube, filter is still $9.95. Most of theirs parts and labor is less then $25.00.Rotate and balance is $29.95 etc. Install wiper blades n/c(some try to charge for this) Most bulbs(not all) labor is N/C.

These are exact reasons why I do my own work. I just changed the oil in my truck and fuel filter, and the total cost with both filters, and 12 qts of chevron delo 400 15w40 cost me $50.00 I need to do my diffs, at 35k miles now, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I also need to replace my air filter, but I haven't hit the auto parts joint yet.

$109. is probably what they charge to change the fuel filter on the 6.7 engine, look at this https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=131642 As for the diffs, I'm doing mine this weekend. 7 quarts of Royal Purple $74.83 with tax.
