Unheated to heated Mirrors

Question is, is the wiring already there for the heated mirrors even though I dont have heated mirrors? Or if I want heated mirrors do I need wiring harnesses too?

Alot of responses to this queston have been, probably yes if its an SLT. Mine has all the other wiring for cab lights and the sport headlights. Also, I am converting to power heated mirrors and had the plug in in the A/C switches for the mirror heater button and the wiring harness in the doors. Take out the screw in the upper front corner of your door panel and gently pull the panel out a little you should see two plugs in there about 3 inches down.

I upgraded my '96 from plain mirrors to power ones and all the wires/harness'es were there. The mirror was not from '96 so of course the plugs didn't match up but with a little help from a AYEdapter kit, we got it running just like a song....

I put heated mirrors on mine and just ran a switch to 12v power. Have to remember to turn them of after a 10 or so minutes. I didn't see any extra stock plugs for the heaters.

I don't think the heated mirrors were available for a 95. Thats what I have and have the heated mirrors from a 98. I still haven't wired them in.Not sure of the wiring but I think the black wires are for the heat. Is that right?

You are probably correct in that heated mirrors were not an option for the 95 as mine didn't have them and it is a SLT Larime. The mirrors I put on were from a 99 truck I think. Here is what worked for the power controls and the heater on mine.

Two black heated
Yellow to red
White to blue
Light blue to green
Mirror to truck

Thanks for the conversion code. I am thinking about coming up with a switch that will shut off by itself after a period of time. Should be a simple thing to do I think. I am a bit electricly challenged though

Hey 1stCumnz, I haven't purchased the mirror heads yet but have all the other parts so far. The heater switch is activated thru a button on the A/C control switch panel at the lower left hand side. Its timed thru the CTU and shuts off after about 15 minutes. I got one at the wrecker for about $60 and ordered the power control switch from a Dodge parts house. The 3rd gen mirrors have a different plug so it has to be retrofitted. Let me know how it goes. Kurt
