Temp compass temp is always OD or way off
I have had a problem with my overhead compass temp gauge. I replaced it with the same year one because my map lights were broken plus the temp has always been OD or it will say -135* or 118* or always way off and even with the old overhead gauge it did it and when I put the other one in it has also done this anyone have any ideas???

Easy way out would be that the sensor is "open". If not, could be a wiring prob. With the sensor unplugged the overhead should read "oc". Jump the connector and it should read "SC" for short circuit. Thats a quickie way to check the wiring and possibly determine that you have a sensor prob.

The sensor on my '96 was on the lower driver side radiator support. My '02 is behind the grill. Not sure when they changed.
Check the sensor resistance. Manual says 336kohms @ -40*C and 2.4kohms @ 55*C. If you need a replacement from a junk yard any DC vehicle should do.
