Stinky Smell On A/C Only

Does anybody else have this problem.
It has a stinky smell when you turn the temp dial from warm to cool. With or without the fan, Its not an antifreeze smell, that is a sweet smell....this smells like dirty socks, really bad.
I have checked the drain hole for the evap, and it is clear and when you have the a/c running it will drip conditation (water)
I have no liquid in the cab, no steam when in the warm setting.
Any ideas????
Allen

Does the smell go away after a bit or is it always there?
Every time I've been to some place with high heat and humidity it would reak for a bit when first turned on, then go away. Some kind of mold in the system.

Mildew

Some have found results thusly.

Turn on the AC
Spray lysol into the intake vents under the windshield/cowl area (outside)
(Air Freshner, not floor cleaner :)
Turn off the AC
Let sit overnight, and let the Lysol kill the mildew like it says it does on the commercials.

If that doesn't work, you might have to tear into the dash to get rid of it.

Good luck

Re:Stinky Smell On A/C Only

To remove the moldy odor from the A/C, get a can of Lysol. With the truck running, turn on the HVAC control to high, outside air. Open the hood and spray the Lysol into the vent that brings in the outside air. It is located in the cowl area; you will know if you are getting it in the vent if you smell Lysol in the cab. (The smell of lysol will go away after a half hour or so.) The mold odor will be gone along with the lysol smell. When the moldy odor smell comes back, get more Lysol and use the whole can. I did this to my Ram, and it works real well.
