My old stinky truck whooped a 2006 Porsche Carrera . . .. .
. . . . . . . . TWICE!
I hope I'm not out of line in posting this here but I had to boast.
On top of that, this was my first real bona-fide "Kill" as there's not a lot to do in Buies Creek. (They turn off the stop light at eight.
)
I'd gone down to the Dunn Benson Drag-strip (1/8 mile) to practice my reaction times. First time racing there. It was the Porsche (NOT a GT or 911) drivers first time to.
The first pass I got him with 9.92 @ 66.23. He seemed to have missed a gear with only a 12.37 @ 55.71.
The second pass had me prevail with a 9.98 @ 66.13 to his 10.65 @ 80.35.
THEN!
I squeaked by a late model Chevy V6 (I think) pick-up (Not a FULL sized truck) running nitrous with a 9.85 @ 66.53 to his 10.22 @ 69.72
My best reaction time was .465.
The Porsche Dude was .516 and the Chevy was .1783
My 60' mark averages 2.065
I gotta do something with my trans.
Again, y'all please pardon my noise over here. I'm just tickled.

im guessing by the times and speeds that you were running the 1/8th mile.......i got rid of a 02 silverado that was in the 8's 1/8 mile and low 13's in 1/4.....man i miss that thing.
great kill man...keep them up!

With my thinking of around 350+hp as a goal, folks are making noise about that figure being the point where I'd do well to consider some billet stuff.
AWSOME! Doesn't say much for the Porsche, does it?
A lot of people are surprised by these trucks with a few mods. Yesterday, a guy at work has a 1st gen, 91 std cab 5 spd AR Mojaves IC, RUSTLESS!! Garage kept by the 1st owner, he has only had it for 4-5 years. 2 tone gray. I have told him of my mods. He said he only has a straight pipe and pump "turned up" 20% by some guy. He follows me out of work. So I wait for him to catch up and floor it. I was still in 3rd gear when I saw him shift into 4th. Lets just say I let up when I hit 70 and about 6 truck lengths. I got a job coming up.
Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread. I was just trying to show the difference between stock and slightly modded.

Thanks folks.
It's funny, I think it'd be fair to say that most guys have wanted some form of a hotrod all their lives. I'd have never imagined mine would turn out to be an old diesel.
But hey! It's paid for, . . . .. well, . . . . .. you know. Till the next project anyway.
I need to burn off some more fuel . . . . .. ..
I was told after the first pass that after I got past the bleachers, the crowd was hollering. My old super-quiet muffler system might have misled folks. Guy said that when I hit it, the turbo went to screaming along with the Cummins hammering and I pretty much left the Porsche.
I imagine they (I) was pulling for the underdog. I wish I could've been there.
You know you guys did this to me.
