Stacks and cab noise?

Hey guys I am thinking of putting 5'' miter cut stacks in my truck. I have a
4" jardine exhaust and a 5" tip and the truck it pretty loud. I was wondering if any of you guys that went from a rear exit to stacks noticed if you had more cab noise from the exhaust. I usaully wouldn;t worrie about it but long camping trips with the wife. It gets to her alittle bit.

stack noise

Ive had my stacks now for about 3 yrs now, and they are muffless, and quiet at 65, even with the windows down. If you search youtube I have a clip of a short hill climb, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xfo81m9aKEU. There is a drone at about 1500-1800rpms while slow cruising but not any more than any type of straight pipe out the rear of the truck. If you want I can video any rpm and send it to you. Let me know.

I have had stacks on many of my trucks encluding my 96 dodge ...I found that when I built my own systems to never have the stack mounted to the bed or body ...I built mounts off the frame to suspend the stacks , it eliminates any vibration and sound transfer .
The full flow air cleaner made my truck louder than the stack mods ...I had to build a insolated box for my aircleaner .

So the Drone is at a lower rpm? I could live with that if the drone was around 1500 not 2000-2200.

IVE BEEN CONTEMPLATING TAKING MINE OFF FOR THAT REASON AND THAT FACT IN MY CASE IT KILLS BED SPACE (ONLY CERTAIN TOOL BOXES FIT ETC.). IF YOUR HALING A HEAVY LOAD DRONE IS TERRIBLE ON TAKE OFF. ITS JUST PLAIN LOUD ALL THE TIME IMO. DONT GET ME WRONG LOTS OF "COOL FACTOR" AND SOUNDS GREAT BUT ALL THE TIME IS TRYING. WOULD BE INTERESTED IN THESE BRACKETS SOMEBODY ABOVE ME SPOKE OF

I had a standard car with 5" stacks, it was only loud with the windows down or the back window open or all. I would not recommend it because of the dirtyness, next truck of mine will just have 4" Down pipe 5" exhaust...cleaner less loudness with windoes down, well atleast for me, lol , on the driver side. I didn't find it to bad with the windows up, i mean you could def hear it but i dont know that i would call it drone...unless as goldduster says, when under load its alot worse, look at he brackets in my pics, they were made by cnc and then drilled and tapped..

You can always install a muffler under the cab some where, or I'm pretty sure that GrandRock even makes a muffler that slips inside of the stacks.

That is a very nice system there heavyboostin. I remember that from when I looked at that truck at kings dodge back in '05.

I have put stacks on a few trucks and it seems to me that the quadcabs are louder than the regular cabs. Its like the sound waves have room to bounce around inside or something...

I stuffed about 4 pair of coveralls between the back seat and the back wall in the cab, made it real tight, and it really helps knock the drone down past 2k rpm. The back wall acts as a big drum skin. Make that more solid, and it will go away.
