Unhappy parking brake cable braket on differential

Hi,
a bracket of the rear differential holding the parking brake cable on 2001 dodge ram 3500 diesel is broken.
Anybody tried to jury rigged or welded a bracket so the cable will hold when you apply the ebrakes?
Thank you.

That bracket just located the cable, it's sheathed so it shouldn't have much affect on your parking brakes holding ability, sounds like yours are out of adjustment or worn...disks or drums??
