Parking Brake Cable Length/Routing?

A search and a look through the sticky yielded nothing helpful so here goes.
I just bought this 91.5 D350 and am going through the rear brakes. Besides a spring missing and the previous owner not being familiar with the concept of oil-bath axles (bearings were packed with grease), I decided to replace the rear parking brakes cables. Got them from Napa and the right one seems to fit perfectly. The left one though, seems too long. It is the same length as the one I removed, which also seemed too long, by 4-6 inches. If I put the cable in the bracket the right cable runs through, a deep "u" hanging off the left frame rail in front of the left rear wheel, the left cable seems like it will be almost kinked because of the tight turn. The old one wasn't in this bracket either.
I am worried about this because the previous owner mounted this utility body on the back and left some things loose uner there, and may have moved the bracket that joins the left and right cables to the front cable, but I am not positive about any of this. It seems like the bracket may have been moved back because of the length of the left cable, and the front cable seems like it was too long (there is some kind of contraption in the middle of the cable that seems like it was put there to shorten the cable a bit), but the right cable seems a perfect fit to the bracket's current location.
Do I have an incorrect cable?
Should the cable be routed differently, not though this bracket?

I can supply pics if needed.

Thanks,
Chris

Here are some pics of what I described in my last post. It's kind of hard to see, but the cable comes out form th eleft wheel and goes almost straight back then loops back to the "U" guide bracket before going to the bracket where it connects to the front cable.
There is also a pic of the location where the bracket that joins the rear cables is located. There are 2 holes in the bottom of the frame where the cable coupling (where front a rear cables meet) is now, that the bracket may be able to bolt to, so that's why I wonder if it has been moved.

Thanks,
Chris

Took some pictures and uploaded them to my gallery. Once approved you should be able to see them. Later, time permitting, I will edit this response to add the pictures if you still need them.

On my d350, the cables are original and seem to fit fine in the guide... I would think that if your left hand cable seems not to fit - lengthwise, that you might not have the right one.

Best wishes

I have the same problem with the cable that I bought from NAPA for the driver's side. It is longer than the cable that I replaced, and is too long. I assume that they supply it as "will fit" and that it is close to some other application that needs the extra length . . . so instead of stocking two parts they only stock the one.

My solution was to leave that cable out of the hanger, and zip tie it to the other cable over one of the wear sleaves so that it followed a nice graceful loop to the backing plate.

I suppose I might try a different supplier next time, but NAPA had it on the shelf the day that I needed it.
