I called the Line-x guy today to give him my paint code. He told me that he thinks my paint is to fresh for Line-x. He suggested that I wait 60 days before getting it done. I might just spray the bottom of the truck in the charcoal color for now, then get Line-x before winter. This sucks.

I used a primer called Xtreme 2K.I've been looking for black primer for a while because most of my vehicles are dark color.I took a chance and didn't use adhesion promotor or flex additive. So far the uretane dually fenders have been holding out good after 2 years with no paint cracking. The only difference is I used a different build primer for the fenders with no promotor or flex agent. Will see if this primer will hold out .The tech specs does say it doesn't need a flex agent. Will see..

When I worked in the bodyshop, wed have bedliner over fresh 2day old paint. Never had a problem. Looks like you have primer where the LineX is going to go, so where would the problem be??

If hes worried about taping over the fresh paint, give it a couple days and its all good. Not sure what a 60 day wait would net you...

I know you aren't suppose to wax the paint for 30 days. He said that Line-x uses wire mesh tape & they recommend it not be used unless paint is 60 days old.

Any bodyshop, after they paint it, will wetsand and buff it, then hand polish it. Im not sure what you use, polish or wax, but polishing is done when paint is a day or two old. Just an FYI

The tape they use has a wire embedded in one side, so when its peeled off, it leaves a nice edge.

Trucks lookin good man. Cant wait to see it done

I buff in 24hrs also. Most bodyshops bake the paint alot better than I did too. I am just worried about it peeling, then taking time to redo my work. I just want this nightmare to be over.
