OD Button Not Working

The tranny does shift into OD but the button on the shift handle will not disengage the od. The handle is loose and will come off until the wires stop it. Do you think it has a broke wire?

What do you guys think.

Thanks

Probably.
All the button does is send a ground signal to the computer.
Could be with the handle falling off that there isn't a good ground.

There is a connector under the steering wheel on the column as well. Pair of black twisted wires, with a little white connector. Someone just posted not too long ago that the wires were severed by the plastic near the shifter. Easy fix is throw those wires on a momentary switch in the dash somewhere.

Just went through this with my 99 and the wires were severed where the plastic cover goes over the steering column. Cut right where they go inside the shifter.. Rigged up a horn button to the wires to control the OD.
