My Tow Haul button not working!?

Hey just wondering if someone knows what can be wrong. I've owned the truck for a few years and never needing to hit the button. The light doen't even light up.
I would like it to work for towing around town now.

Can it be a fuse? Where and which one?
A relay?
Or a selenoid on the tranny?
Or the shift lever where the button is?
I jsut don't want to go to the dealer!?!? I hate leaving the truck there for 2-3 days for something like this.

BTW, I have 99 3500 auto 5.9 cummins engine 4x4 PU.

Thks in advance!

Geesh how about a little patience?

Surely you don't expect an answer in less than 56 minutes?

Give the guys some time, they will answer when they get a chance

My ESP isn't working...what are you driving ...fill out your signature
open the fuse box ,under the hood ,driverside,...
look at the inside of the cover... and you will see

AS WOULD I IF I HAD ONLY OPENED MY EYES...

Hi SilverRam
The switch you are talking about is the OD switch. It turns off the overdrive. It does this by sending a momentary signal to the PCM, then the pcm turns off overdrive and turns on the indicator light. When you push the button again or cycle the ignition it turns OD back on. I will assume you have OD and would have to guess that the switch is bad. You can check this switch with a wire diagram and a DMM. You can get a wire diagram here http://www.alldatadiy.com/
For $24.95 per year for one vehicle. This is a complete repair manual for the entire vehicle. Or you can buy a switch and try it. Hope this helps you out.
You could also go to a local transmission shop and have them take a look at it. It would be faster than the dealer and alot cheaper too.

How do you get 56 minutes?? 12:53am to 1:49pm = 12 hours 42 minutes

Looking at the fuses is allways a good place to start. I looked at the wire diagram and near as I can see this is not a fused circuit. If a fuse blew you would loose 4th and lockup too.

Thks guys. I finally got some responses. I waited til the next day not just 56 min.
Anyway I'm in Homestead, South Florida.

I did look at the fuse box and relays but nothing looked bad. Nothing says OD switch so I guess I will have to pick up a manual for it since I will be keeping the truck a few years for sure.

I will now fill out my siq, sorry bout that!
