OD button not working!???!!!

Anyone know what to do or look for? I tried looking at all fuses and relays but no luck. I dont have a manual either.
Its a 99 3500 CTD. My light doesnt light up when I hit button on the shift lever thats on the auto steering column. And the trans doesnt do the in and out of OD thing and I need it to because Im towing alot in city and it goes into OD alot. I dont want to ruin the trans. Its been good and reliable til now!

Maybe this has happen to someone else out there??
If someone can help here I would appreciate it alot! Thks T

Hmm are you pushing it quickly, or holding it down for a couple of seconds. I know my light doesnt work(probably the bulb), but my button still works. I just have to hold it down for a few seconds when i apply/take out overdrive...have since it was new.

Lubricate cap

Mine was not working all the time and had to hold switch in hard to work at all so I took the cap off the end of the shift handle a sprayed it with WD40 and it works fine. Twogun

Wow OK! I think I will check out the cap end of the shifter and see if thats it.

I hope I dont have to open the trans pan, fluid change and filter. It was done 6 months ago.
THks T
