Can you better describe the sound when you apply the brakes? Is there grinding or vibration? Smoke?

I'd take the front wheels of NOW and see what's going on in there.

Make sure you don't have bearing problems either. Jack up front wheel spin it see if any grinding noise. Grab tire top and bottom or side to side pull one side of tire and push on the other side. shouldn't be to much play in the movement and there shouldn't be any unusual sounds.

Sounds like a differential, maybe the limited slip.

After you have put some miles on the truck feel the hubs to see if they are hot. If you have a problem in the bearings they should be to hot to touch. I would still put my bets on something in the differntial going on you. I guess the other possibility barring heat in the hubs is the front u-joints may be ready for a change.
