Question Heavy Duty or not

I have a 98 12v auto and was wondering if this is a heavy duty truck or not and how can I tell. When did the HD's come out? How can I tell if mine is a HD or not?

thanks

They're all Heavy Duty.

Perhaps you mean High Output? HO

No, that didn't come out till 2001
(2000?)

Thanks phox. I guess Dodge just started putting Heavy Duty on the trucks body. No, I don't have one of those HO. Mine is just a little 'ol 12v (that I just absolutely love to death lol).

The only reason Dodge had to start doing that is
Ford and Chevy started calling theirs "Heavy Duty" and "Super Duty".

Some people don't believe it if it isn't written down in front of them.
The Cummins is still the only Medium Duty engine available in a pickup truck.
The others are classified as "Light Duty".

Niether the Dodge, ford or chev 3/4 & 1 ton trucks are realy heavyduty trucks, they are classed as light duty trucks (below 14,000 lb gvw)

1&1/2 ton to 3 ton (14,000-25,000lb gvw) trucks are medium duty

above 25 000 lb gvw is heavy duty

The "HEAVY DUTY" first appeared on the 03 trucks.

I'm sure your right... Because that was the year that 3rd Gens came out. New body style and been rebadged!...

I still like the 2nd gen body style over the newer 3rd though...

Still there is nothing like a Cummins Truck!
