If you don't want to replace, try a paintless dent repair shop. They can do wonders with hail damage. You won't have to worry about poor fitting parts or non-factory paint.

Before you do anything an old bodyman told me he got lots of hail damage out using dry ice. It might be worth a try, should be cheap.

i went by a body shop on Friday and got a quote. Take a deep breath ....... $7,000. to get it bakc in shape. Over two hundred dents in the hood alone. The roof has to come off and that means a new windshield.
The PDR guys wuoted $1500.00 without touching the hood or the sides of the bed and doors. I would post pictures but have no idea how.

Haven't sean it done either, but just guessing with the truck sitting in the sun so the metal is warm they take a chunk of dry ice and rub the dent so the metal contracts back to its orginal shape. Like I said its worth a try, I don't see how it could hurt anything. I'm going to try it on a hood I bought cheap, but it will probably be a couple of weeks from now.

Heat the area with a hair dryer and then use the dry ice in the dent.

You were lucky that you was in a building during the storm!!!
mine is pretrty beat up from the hail storm I was in. The drivers side is the worst, looks like a bunch of people had a field day with small hammers. Golfball size hail pelting my truck like forever. Man I was scared. I had the truck and trailer loaded and the wind got soo strong, that it started rocking the truck from side to side. Had adjuster look at it and they wrote me a check for 5700.00- 250 deductible for the damage.

well I tried it and could not get any results. I tried heating the surface in the sun and then heated it with a heat gun and still no luck. I went to a body shop today and was told that it is an old wives tale and that it does not work. I am tempted to keep tying since dry ice is $.89 per pound. I will keep you posted.

This happened to me last summer. I received $ 8000 from the insurance company! I left the bumps ,paid off the truck, and invested what was left.

I am considering doing that, or getting some more equipment for my business. But the thought of seeing the large dimples all the time, drives me nuts. I have an employee and he is putting some scratches in it when he reaches over the sides to get something, so if I get it fixed like it was, he will have to learn that it is my truck and I want to keep it looking nice. Thats a big problem too.
