Cupholder replacment options

Hey Everybody,

Every now and again while working on a vehicle, you have to ask yourself: "Why in the <would be edited by moderator> did they design it this way?"

The cupholder placed above the radio in my '97RAM is one of those things. I'm going to stuff a CB radio in that same hole... note: it's already stuffed in there, now I'm just trying to make it look pretty.

Anybody who has modified their cupholder location, please post a few pics or a little description of what you have done with this valuable dashboard real-estate location. I think I've seen someone with an amazing array of switches... can I have a picture?

Many thanks in advance,
Sean.

Yeah what ever engineer came up with the cup holder design in the 94-97 Rams has hopefully been fired. It gets old having to grab hold of your drink every time you cross railroad tracks or potholes. I really need to order a cup smoothie from genos. At least they got it right in the 98-02 Rams, never had a problem with the one in my 2000 Ram and it holds just about any size cup.

Replaced cupholder w/ ipod holder ...

Ordered smoothie from geno's ... best comfort investment so far.

How many stock cupholders hold a 52 / 64oz drink ! ? The smoothie does !

Somebody here came up with a great solution to fixing the cup holder, I wish I could remember who or find the post. It was a simple solution that make the cup holder well um, hold cups the way it should.

I'll try to find the post with pic. Trying to use words to describe it probably won't work. KD

Not only that, It has no side support. so a tall drink has support from front to back, it's ok as long as you dont take a fast right hand turn and it flops down on your leg! Ok, all of you can admit it's not just me.

I got some cheapy cup holders that clip over the panel edge on the door. Seems to hold a cup of coffee just fine. Those stock cup holders are pretty bad.
