Cruise contol malfunction w/ ABS light on

While trying to diagnose my ABS light, I noticed that my cruise control isn't functioning properly. When I turn it on and set the speed, the system takes over the throttle and slowly accelerates the truck.

So my theory is that it's the ABS sensor in the rear axle. Before I go spend the money chasing guesses, can anybody confirm my suspicions?

Thanks!

Not sure on a '99 but...

if that were a 96, sounds like 2 seperate problems.

The Cruse Control acceleration would be caused by the throttle rod being out of adjustment with the TPS.

The ABS light could be your RWSS.

The reason I think that the two symptoms are related is because the cruise control worked properly prior to the ABS light coming on. After searching here it appears to be that the most common cause for the light is the RWAL sensor. Without taking it to the dealer to have it scanned, guessing is all I can do. So I'll throw down the $40 next week and see if it solves the problem.

Thanks for the responses.

I put a new sensor in today... It fixed the CC, but the ABS light still comes on.

I believe the TPS is for auto only, what happens for us guys with the tough NV4500 ?

I have same cruise problem, I can set it but truck SLOWLY accelerates.
I was in IA 2 weeks ago, cruise was set at 70mph, after a while I cross a IA State Patrol on other direction, look at my speed YYYYYIKES 84mph !!! I would like to send the officer a Thank You card for being so forgiving.....
