Check Gages light?
Was driving in the right lane against the curb yesterday during a much needed heavy downpour. Ended up plowing a lot of water with the truck. The Check Gage light lit up on the dash. Naturally I looked at the FP/EGT/Booast gauges and all was well. Then I realized those weren't the gauges I should be checking . Volt meter was reading zero. Everything else (temp, oil pressure etc) was working fine. All electrical accessories were running fine. Got home shut the truck off, waited a few seconds, turned it back on and the light was off and the voltmeter was fine. My question is this: What did I hit with the water to cause the voltmeter to go to zero volts? Did something get shorted (momentarily)?

Even the connector for the crank sensor getting wet could tell the PCM the engine isn't running and turn off the alternator.
