A/C Problems

I had my a/c serviced last year, it needed many new o-rings and couplers, amongst other things. The tech said that my truck 1998 has a very poor a/c system and that the work that he did probably wouldn't last a year. He was right all the refrigerant leaked out.
My question is; Is there any way to make my truck's a/c system better?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

How poor is the system? What did the a/c tech say was needing repair? Did he install all the o-rings and seals correctly? You can get 134 refridgerant with a flourecent dye in it to help pinpoint leaks with a ultraviolet light.

I have found 8 times out of 10 that the schraeder valve leaks out the charge.

When I got my truck it had a hole in the suction line where someone had shorted the + terminal of battery to it with a wrench. Jb welded the hole, charged the system and now enjoy cold air
