With everyone's very helpful advice, I was able to just pop those crossover tubes out with a small screwdriver. I'll use the suggestions you all gave if I ever have to remove the injectors.
As you all said, the crossover tubes were pretty easy to get out. I was making it way harder than it needed to be. Numbers 3 & 5 crossover tubes were a bear to push back in. I tapped them in with the blunt end of the screwdriver.
I replaced all the crossover o-rings except #6 because I realized if that one gave me any trouble I wouldn't even have the clearance to use the screw driver and mallet to get it back in.
Anyway, I am no longer smelling diesel fuel like I did, and the area directly under the cylinder head fuel line connections looks dry. I'm glad to have that done.
Thanks again,
Tee
