99 dodge 2500 Fuel leak
99 dodge 2500 Fuel leak
I have found that the 2 metal fuel lines (that are part of the in-tank fuel pump) are rusted. There is a small pin hole in 1 causing it to leak when pump is on. I tried some putty without success. I saw the replacement pumps (from Advanced Auto) come with plastic tubes instead of metal. Is my best option to replace the pump with new pump? Any idea's or suggestions? If so should I go with the one from Advanced Auto? Should I drop the tank or pull off the bed?

Your truck shouldn't have a pump in the tank unless it's a gasser or was added aftermarket.

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!

I would replace the pump if your budget allows it. When I did mine, I pulled the bed, but dropping the tank is also an option. I happen to have a tractor with a loader, but a couple of buddies will work also for lifting the bed off. I think it is way easier to work on everything with the bed off. Just my opinion though.
FWIW I built my own draw straw. I didn't know about Vulcan. I bought a threaded (1/2") bulkhead and drilled a hole on the top of the tank. The 1/2" pipe threads on the top and bottom allow for the draw straw which I made out of a schedule 80 PVC nipple cut to size. Works pretty good, haven't had any problems anyway. I used ATV silicone to seal the top of the bulkhead just in case. You can see pictures in this thread here all the way at the bottom. I did run a piece of fuel line with a filter on the end to keep any dirt or water from getting into the tank vent.
For a rail mounted pump i got a FASS 150, but i think I would get a ddrp if I had to do it again. The FASS I have is way overkill for anything I would ever need. But I didn't know about the DDRP at that time either.
