What is this piece?

What is this part of my intake system? Looks like a flexible joint of somekind. It is circled in red in the attached picture. Any information would be appreciated.

Re:What is this piece?

It's just the flexible coupler between the intercooler piping and the intake horn. Heavy duty to be able to withstand 20 psi of boost (or more).

Re:What is this piece?

Thanks amartinson, I thought it was a flex piece between two rigid pipes. Thank you again for the confirmation.

Wish my engine was that clean! Anyway, keep your eye on those couplers because they tend to vibrate loose and could cause a loss in power or even whistling noises. In my case the one on the passenger side(lower coupler) was just a little loose and not on all the way and it cause the most annoying and loudest whistle ever! Just keep em tight, IMHO!

Re:What is this piece?

You should have about four of them if I remember right. Two between the turbo and the cooler and two between the cooler and the intake.

Yeah, how do you keep all the parts of your engine that clean?

The boots can take up to 54 psi of boost fpr sure. At least thats whatI dished out to them.
Theres 9-7/16" nuts that need a deep socket to tighten up.
One on the turbo, two on each hose. Two hoses on upper and lower of right side and left side of engine.
