VP 44 Died
VP 44 Died
Well hello to all. This is really my first post. Have gotten plenty of help from this forum. Especially on the engine error codes. I have a 1998.5 Doge 2500 and yesterday I was just cruising along and truck started to buck. Pulled over to ck things out, changed fuel filter. She never started again. Hooked up a code reader and got P1688, P0253 and P1693. Checked the fuel pump, barely any pressure and not enough flow. Tried to hot start the VP 44 no dice, so goodbye to that VP 44. I ended up spending about $1600 shipping included via BlueChip Diesel. Got a rebuilt VP 44, Air Dog Raptor 100 gph fuel pump and a low fuel pressure warning kit. I have been waiting for this since I bought the truck. I was going to replace the dead parts by just using stock, but after reading the nightmare scenarios on here, I decided against it. Hopefully this does not happen again too soon. Comments anyone?
You did real good. Your way better off than what you used to be . The only thing you might think about doing in the future if you want to is put a fp guage on there sometime. I did the low pressure warning light from chip also and ended up getting rid of it and getting a guage. I just wanted to know what it was at and not just that its low.
