Re:Truck Died, Wont Restart

I don't know if your truck is out of fuel or not, but try to press the accelerator to the floor while cranking it over. This may help if the fuel pressure regulator is stuck.

Re:Truck Died, Wont Restart

I had gallons come out. The transfer pump is working rally well. That's why I'm confused because I've bled the system at the only 3 places I can think of (2 on the filter, and 1 on the inj. pump).

Do I try and bleed it at the injectors?

Re:Truck Died, Wont Restart

I'd crack at least one of the injector lines and see if any fuel comes out.
This will let you know if the injection pump is working or not.

Did you check the fuel filter?
Maybe it is gummed up enough to not let much through.

good luck

phox

Re:Truck Died, Wont Restart

Crasc the 3 and 4 lines turn onj the key and see if fuel comes out lift pump should push it to there. If not leave key on and off till pump pushes the fuel to injectors. Check the banjo at the injector pump to make sure your getting fuel to it when you run out it still takes a while for the lines to get fuel. Cranking wont really help since the pump is electronic just keep turning it on and off to let pump cycle good luck.

Re:Truck Died, Wont Restart

Got it! :whew:

Pulled the fuel lines to 2 of the 6 injectors. I pulled the 1st and 3rd starting from the front.

This bled those lines so I reconnected them, and fired the truck on 2 cyl. ROUGH! But it quickly (like less than 5 seconds) smoothed out as the other inj. lines bled.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Re:Truck Died, Wont Restart

The manual says only two injector lines have to be bled on the high pressure side of things when it needs it. Interesting that the lift pump will push fuel out the injector lines if given long enough.

Glad to hear you're up and runnin' again.

Moral of this story:
Don't depend on a fuel guage.
Under normal conditions I don't let mine get below a 1/4 tank.
Remember the VP injection pump is cooled by fuel. The lower the tank gets, the warmer the fuel will get as it recirculates.

Desert Diesel,

Keep a can of WD40 in your truck. The next time you run out of fuel :-[ take and shoot some into the air intake and start the truck. 8) This is much quicker than bleeding the injectors and wont hurt the engine. Don't use starter fluid, it's way to volital for a turbo charge engine, the WD40 works great.

DB

Re:Truck Died, Wont Restart

WD40 is pressurized with propane isn't it? I know it works on small engines as well.
