truck went crazy today

Today I was driving down the highway and Lost the cruise control and noticed the ABS and Brake light was on. Then i noticed the speedmeter didn't work below 25 mph in town.

What's going on?

Thanks
dan

I think it's your rear wheel speed sensor that has gone bad. Do a search. Easy to fix.
Good luck.

Inspect the last few feet of wiring to the sensor, too. They can get chewed up by gravel pretty bad where they follow the emer. brake cable.

I took the old sensor out and broke it in the process. With the sensor unpluged it has no speedmeter reading now.

The sensor only runs about $35 if I recall, and should be easy to replace. Just make sure you keep things clean in there.

I put a new one in today. think it fixed the problem. It was $41 with tax. I have a problem that my scanner won't communicate with the Module. Only the Dodge dealer can check this out and if a new module is required, then they have to reflash it. Don't sound right to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! I understand the reflashing part has to be done by the deal, but when I have a $3000 snap on scan tool, or anybody else has an OTC scanner should be able to at lest check for code's but also be able to look inside and see whats going on. What does dodge have basterized on this thing?

That's kinda weird. My Snap On scan tool will talk to the ECM and PCM on these trucks. Not as much info as the DRBIII will give you, but enough to go on. On the ABS controller, not so much. Have you tried going in under "generic scan tool" mode?

I have a 1999 chips with a 1999 truck, that chould be it, I didn't try generic scan tool mode. It as abs on the menu but it says, communitcation for this system is unavalible. I'll have to check it out. I'm also don't like that I can't see much on the ECM liike you said torquefan. You should be able to see what those two siloneds are doing in that pump. It would help a preson trouble shoot a problem alot easier.

my dads 99 had the same problem it took 3 dodge shops to fix it and all it was was a bad connection it was in the the on the top fire wall near the middle of the truck and he said was the blue wire with the pink strip was the one not making contact so he unpluged it and made sure all the pins was pushed all the way in and sprayed some contac cleaner and all was good

Now i have the Sensor and the speedo and cruise works. The Torque convertor will lock and unlock before it goes in. I hunts around awile before it does. It only does this once in a wile. This truck never has done this before. I know there is other reason than the abs sensor to cause a problem like this. But the problem never happened even with the bad abs sensor. Chould it be faulty?

thanks
