Tranny Swap!!!!!

Hey everyone i am having a little bit of an issue with converting an 2001 Dodge 2500 Extended cab long bed from an automatic to an manual transmission. The problem that I am having is the ECM. I need to know if an ECM change is need to convert to the manual transmission. I haven't done that much research on the issue but i was hoping to get the heads up from someone on the conversion.

Thanks
Evann

You might try using the search button. I know there are several people that have done this swap. I believe you have to get one from a manual truck but Im not sure.

Each of you will need the module and wiring harness to match the transmission of choice - the transmission wiring harness disconnects from the main wiring harness - should also be a transmission control relay in the power center - fortunately, DCJ installed connectors for most options in the basic wiring harnesses - the manual conversion could work with the auto module, but will always DTC at each start - the auto conversion will not function with the manual module because the TCC, electronic governor, and overdrive is controlled by the corresponding module - if you use the 47RH or early 47RE, you could get by without changing modules, but the manual module could still generate several DTC's due to lack of gear-range inputs - best to use the correct module and harness - don't fergit the TPS\bracket\cable assembly - maybe you two guys should talk
