tranny leak...
tranny leak...
Well my tranny decided to start peeing in the driveway.
It's leeking from one of the aluminum tranny lines on the passanger side and is the one closes to the fire wall. From what I can tell is that it's leaking as if there is a bad oring or something. I checked the torq on the bolt to see if it had just come loose, but its tight as it can be. What could be problem be? Does anyone have part number for that aluminun line? Also I have a 99 and its supposed to have the upgraded lines. What does the upgraded one look like compared to the old one?
Thanks

www.rockauto.com has the lines if u need new ones. if its one of the lines going into the heat exchanger, they are compression fitting, no orings. orings leak on the quick connect fittings on the lines going into and outa the trans cooler in front.
There are 2 lines that connect to what would be the heat exchanger I guess, that is right under the turbo and it is the line that is closest to the firewall. I was hoping that I could get the line locally as this is my only mode of transportation.
Line from the trans, across the bottom and attaching to the heat exchanger (line furthest back, or closest to firewall as you describe) is the output line from the trans. I install them from time to time and find that the "seat" can crack where the line fits to the fitting on the heat exchanger. The line is available at the dealer for around $31.00, or you can spend about $129.00 on the 94/95 line that has the bung welded on it for a temp sensor. This line also has a short rubber section on it that I believe helps dampen vibration. Also, make sure you have all the plastic clips that hold the lines together. They run about $8.00 each, or you can fab some up using heater hose and zip ties.

Oh also out of the 2 lines that are connected to the heat exchanger, the one that is leaking is the shortest one out of the 2. If that helps you on figuring out which line I need to replace.
Thanks for all the help guys. Yall are really saving me money by not taking it to the dealership.

soory, but u can fab up some of your own, just go to plumbing supply to get correct flare fitting and a small length of hose to splice the original line, the dealer will ripe u if u get it from them.
What kind of pressures should these hoses be able to handle? There's a place that makes hoses, tubes and what not. I think I'm just going to take the hose to them and see what they can do. I'd rather not have those aluminum lines any more and a better way of connecting them to the heat exchanger since this has happened once before.
Also J BODY, do you have a part number for that 31.00 line?

i believe 90 psi for a stock tranny, get some hydraluic hoses..
http://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.as...c&keyword=HH08 might have the hose with the fitting allready.
