From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Diesels tick, click, rattle, bang, knock, shake, and more if you get a fixation on some noise. Mine has a idle knock that unnerves me, but when a injector went down I knew something was really wrong. Your buddies are the worst, cause theirs don't make that terrible noise. Theirs make some other noise.

Could be a crack forming somewhere along your exhaust manifold, or a an exhaust manifold gasket is starting to go...causing an exhaust tick. Is the tick there all the time at idle, or more so when the engine is cold/warm?

exhaust manifolds on these trucks are known to crack, a lot of times the crack will form under the turbo where it's hard to see

I will check that out so if it is cracked is it better to replace with a oem or a aftermarket one?

Depending on how much you want to spend, I would go for an after market 3 piece one. I just finished R&Ring my stock manifold with an HTT one since my stock one was basically cracked in half!

However usually when it is the manifold it will quiet down once the engine is warm due to the casting expanding and closing off of the crack. But I would still check your manifold and gaskets just to be sure.
