Ticking Noise
Ticking Noise
Can someone please help on this problem. I can not find a ticking that is coming from my engine compartment. I think it may be the clutch but I am not sure. I just put in the heavy valve springs and adjusted the valves so I am pretty sure it is not that. It almost sounds like a bearing going bad or a ticking sounds. If someone could help I would really appreciate it.

Can you hear it echoing off of a curb or a wall while your driving (windows down)? If so maybe a rod bearing
. Dont panic but it may be something you want to check out before it gets too bad(if that is what it is). You may want to drain your oil and look for "sparklies" (rod bearing material). If you can catch a rod bearing before it tears up your crank you could save some serious dough.
Also, if you put your hand on your overhead (while running), can you feel the ticking? If so it may just be a mis-adjusted valve.
Good luck
Scott.

was the noise there before u did the springs? you say u think its the clutch if u depress the clutch and hold it does the noise go away? also u say it sounds like an exhaust leak just read something that one person found the rear 2 bolts on the exhaust manifold loose or missing.
