Ive got this ticking noise not valve chatter or anything like that but it is very noticalbe its coming from the drivers side of the engine it just started one day and seems to have gotten a little worse and im loosing about 3-4 lbs of boost I dont know if the ticking has anything to do with that or not but it still starts fine and seems to run fine. Any thoughts, Thanks

 

Overflow valve ticks when it starts going bad.

 

Is the overflow valve located at the top corner of the pump towards the front of the motor. Thanks

 

I had to replace my lift pump a couple of months ago.It was making a ticking noise. Found that the spring inside was shot.

 

I replaced the overflow valve and lift pump trying to get rid of the tick. just learned to live with it.

 

Are there any other symptoms of a bad overflow valve going bad, its cutting out at heavy throtle but no white smoke. Thanks

 

low RPM miss/instability
white smoke
hard starting
engine dies at idle
low power

 

Sure sounds like an overflow
