hey guys anyone come across po1689? this truck is intermittently cuting out, new transfer pump and filter, wiggled harness, truck running fine now, seems to happen mostly when passing on the highway. i think its the pump module, any info out there
Hey Bud, take a look at my thread https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=213458
I changed my Crank case sensor and everything went away.....

i got the 1689 when my pump died.
the guy that fixed my truck said the wire that controlled the vp from the ecm was brunt and he had to piggyback it. he new wiring hardness was $800
A failing Edge EZ or Comp can also cause this code. I found out the hard way (changed VP44). Try to unplug the Edge data port connector, clear the codes and drive for a bit. If that cures it, call Edge....they are very good about fixing the boxes even if out of warrenty.
When my crank sensor was dieing, my tach would drop to zero momentarily, engine would stumble, AC compressor would disengage, and alternator would stop charging. But, mine is a 2000 model and has only crank sensor....I think your truck also uses cam sensor for the engine running signal to the ECM. So, your symptoms may vary a bit.

I swore Leeboy had a dying IP. Fortunatelly he tried sensor due to cost and he saved a bundle. Good for him. He also had the crank sensor code in addition.Hope you can be so lucky, cause it is normal classic case for early VP44 failure. Look carefully at wiring for damage also. Good luck.
