Stupid Newby Question

The tire shop stated I needed to replace my shocks. I looked at eshocks and noted two different options (solid axle - not solid).

Now, here is the stupid newby (non mechanic) question - where are the freakin front shocks? I see the control arms - the springs - but no shocks

Maybe they got stolen and you don't have the shocks? In that case I think your shop is right, you need new shocks.

^Paul has it correct. Yes, they should be inside the coil spring.....didn't realized there was a market for stolen shocks. better go lock mine down.

My 98 2wd was not in the coil spring. You could get to them quite easily by just turning the wheel to full lock. I was going to change them myself until my service station offered to do it for $6.00 a shock!

Yup, for those of you above that state they 'should be inside the coil spring' they are not - they are on the backside and as jdec states, you have to turn the wheel pretty hard to even see em. Still not a mechanical genious, but at least my shocks werent stolen
