P0500, P0460, P1693
P0500, P0460, P1693
These are the codes i have now....The odd time the truck either feels like king kong kicked it in the bum, and it will go like a raped ape for a millisecond, and some times idling it will stumble or feel as though i shut it off and started it back up within a millisecond, P0500 is vehicle speed sensor.....how does this effect what i am seeing? P0460 i cant find info on, but 0461 is fuel sensor related. And i am guessing the P1693 is just piggybacking these other 2 codes.
Question is do i just replace the VSS, or do i not worry about it?
What about this P0460?? Recently the truck has run out of fuel, but the guage has still read about 1/8 of a tank....could this cause this code?
Thanks, Jon.

Jon, you might want to hold off on buying a VSS....when I had the P0500 it went away after removing the battery cables. It could be that the VSS is toast but then again it could be just from spinning the tires on ice. Dont think it would hurt anything if you dont replace it right away (its not something critical like a lift pump) - you could always remove it and reinstall too - my buddy tried that and it worked as well.
thanks.....are the fuel sending units pricey?? I am always driving 500+ miles without filling up because i can get diesel for 14 cents/liter cheaper if i fill up at a certain station in sherwood park. So i drive from there too ft. Mac, then back. But know i dont trust the sending unit as much!!
Ahhh....I know that station quite well - Im from Sh Pk....
As for the sending unit - I dont really know. What I do know is that its not a good idea to run the tank down too far. A lot of fuel is returned to the tank and if the tank is empty or near empty, the fuel stays hot. Since the VP-44 is cooled and lubed by fuel only, this can contribute to an injector pump failure (especially in the summer when the temps are hotter).
Yes, P1693 is a companion code which just means that there are other codes set.
