Question Oil Pan Leak

Have a slow leak at the rear of the oil pan. Can I retorque the bolts, or is that not a good idea. I read that a new gasket is a real pain. Thanks for the help.

Not on what the gasket is made out of , but just tightening could just squeeze out more of the gasket .
As for replacing , it should not be that bad , you only need to drop the pan a couple inches , removing the pan , is a big job , just tedious , get very clean .

Try torquing. Could it be the dipstick connection on left side of engine, hidden of course. If a small seep, leave er be.

Not saying that this is the problem but these pans have a tendency to crack at the pan rail. so look it over real good or you do all this for nothing.

I just changed the pan in my truck..rusted through..
It wasn't actually that hard. the place I went to had a guy who could weld so it was easier to cut the cross member out and weld it back. too about 3 hrs total.
it took longer to change the oil in the tranny..I broke one the bolts, drilled it out, tried to retap..then broke the tap.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try tightening the bolts this weekend. Does anyone know the torque numbers on the bolts?

Don't need a lift either, just flip it on its side, fix it!

All mine were loose, Just snugged then up by hand, that was 80,000+ Kms ago, no leaks since, very common with engine vibration for bolts to back off
