Noisy fuel gauge

I have lately been having a problem with my fuel gauge making a wining sound when I fire up my truck. I have tried to adjust the t-valve on top of the water separate with no luck. I have a Auromotive fuel pump that has never gave me any problems and I think the pump is wired correctly because I wired it through a relay then to the factory wiring harness I don’t know if that has to do with the problem but it has become quit a problem. Also when I get on it the gauge will serge between 10 and 18 psi, anyway I would greatly appreciate any help.

Check the voltage to the pump.Make sure you also check the grounds for the relay and the pump.It would be helpful if you solder all connections to insure good connections The aeromotive pump needs lots of good clean power.

I have checked all of the conections and ground wiring but the gauge still wines just as much as it allways did. i will probobly get a voltage meter and check that next.

If you have the pressure tap too close to the the VP44 the pulses between the internal pump and the external pump will rattle the gauge. If you do have the pressure tap at theVP44 move it away near, or in the filter housing.

That's the problem I have, I just deal with it. Most of the time I have the radio up anyway. This is how close mine is:

Those violent pressure pulses aren't good for the guage, for one thing it makes the guage useless cause you can't read it the other is it will destroy either the sending unit if its electrical, or if its mechanical, it will wear it out.

Mine doesn't physically rattle. It reads fine, the needle is smooth and doesn't bounce. But I can hear a rattling.
